That's right ... Iceman. A 'Top Gun' screening/costume contest is dangerous
Everyone's favorite '80s volleyball movie, Top Gun, returns to the big screen on Friday. At least it does here in Tampa Bay, where an exclusive screening is set for the historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Clearwater on Friday night.
And sure, you can buy a ticket to the flick for $8 just like everyone else. But wouldn't you rather buzz the tower and enter a special costume contest too? Well, the Defense Department regrets to inform you that you won't get your ticket for free if you win. But you will score a Taste of Cleveland Street prize pack, which includes gift certificates from nearby restaurants.
Bonus points, I say, for anyone who shows up as one of the downed MiG pilots.
Tickets are available in advance at Ruth Eckerd Hall's ticket office at 1111 McMullen Booth Rd., by calling (727) 791-7400 or by visiting www.atthecap.com. The contest starts at 6:30 p.m. and the movie at 7 p.m. at the theater, 405 Cleveland St.
