There can be only one: 'Highlander' remake in works

highlander_l.jpgHighlander ... being remade?!? The sensation you are feeling is the quickening. Actually, no. It's more like nausea. The 1986 movie, starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery as immortals stalking the Earth, is one of the ultimate guy flicks of the '80s. And while maybe the acting wasn't top-notch, it was secondary anyway to Queen's brilliant soundtrack and the sword play between the head-hunting characters.

(And yes, I sob like a baby when Heather MacLeod dies from old age while Connor is still young. All set to Queen's Who Wants to Live Forever? Brutal!)

So you'll forgive me for missing the news that a remake is on the way. Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later, Intruder) is officially on the case, according to multiple sources. Word also has it the script is being done by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who wrote Iron Man. IMDB.com has a 2014 release date tentatively scheduled.

TOP 5 MENACING LINES FROM HIGHLANDER:

5. "I apologize for calling your wife a bloated warthog, and I bid you good day."

4. "He's a Highlander, by God, and the last sound he hears should not be that of a wailing woman!"

3. "Hello, pretty..."

2. "Father! Forgive me, I am a worm."

1. "Tonight you sleep in hell."
