There is a Light that is Ready to Go Out: Morrissey to retire in two years?!?
Morrissey has confirmed plans to quit the music business in two years -- maybe. Depending on how you read things.
MSN's JuiceOnline blogged recently asked the former Smiths frontman-turned-solo extraordinaire if he still foresees himself retiring at age 55.
"Yes. I am slightly shocked to have gone as far as I have," the 53-year-old Morrissey replied. "This is my 30th year, and I've aged a lot recently, which is bit distressing for me, as it must be for everyone. The body changes shape and there’s nothing you can do about it. Do I continue as a modern day Andy Williams?"
That sounds sorta/kinda firm, though the Hollywood Reporter takes it a step farther, declaring this his official retirement plan, thus scaring all the '80s hipsters I know half to death. But I'm not so sure anything is definite.
"I take one hour at a time," Morrissey continued. "We will all probably be blown up by the Syrian government soon, anyway, so it hardly matters in the great scheme of things [laughs]."
Yep. That's the Morrissey we all know. How soon is now? Not anytime soon.
