There is a time to dance: 'Footloose' remake gets canned!
Eighties fans, get ready to dance your butts off: The already-completed remake of Footloose probably isn't going to see the bright light of day any time soon. Paramount Pictures has taken the movie off its release schedule.
The remake of the classic 1984 movie that starred Kevin Bacon was set for a June 2010 release. The new movie was an adaptation of the stage musical of Footloose specifically. It suffered a changed in lead stars -- Chace Crawford took over for Zac Efron -- and directors along the way. And let's face it: Who really wanted to see it in the first place?
Chances are that die-hard fans will still get a chance to see the completed project. Times film critic Steve Persall says he wouldn't be surprised to see Footloose pop up in August 2010 or January 2011 -- normally dead times at the box office when studios send their most-disappointing projects to the wolves. (The same thing happened to Fame last year.)
