Thursday earworm: Mustache god Franke and the Knockouts' 'Sweetheart'
Enjoy the way, way back sound of Franke and the Knockouts and their biggest hit Sweetheart. Great song, cheesy video.
And let's say what we're all thinking: Lead singer Franke Previte might be the owner of the greatest '80s mustache ever. EVER!
The New Jersey band formed in the early '80s and never made it past 1986, but Sweetheart -- their biggest hit -- went all the way to No. 10 on the charts in '81. Previte would go on to win an Oscar for co-writing the song (I've Had) The Time of My Life for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
And the Knockouts are still cool enough to have a Web site to call their own. (Tip of the cap to the previous occupant of the Spears Lair for suggesting today's earworm.)
