Tom Cruise's 'Jack Reacher' film postponed after Newtown school shooting
Paramount Pictures postponed its Saturday night premiere of its new Jack Reacher film in the wake of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., the studio announced late Friday. Tom Cruise is the star in the movie, which includes a scenes of sniper violence.
Sometimes we give Hollywood a lot of grief for their questionable decision making, but they got this one right.
"Due to the terrible tragedy in Newtown, Conn., and out of honor and respect for the families of the victims whose lives were senselessly taken, we are postponing tomorrow's Pittsburgh premiere of Jack Reacher," Paramount said in a statement. "Our hearts go out to all those who lost loved ones."
The film is scheduled to open Dec. 21, according to the L.A. Times.
