With Tom Cruise's star rising again, Top Gun 2 could be next
"Tower, this is Tom Cruise requesting a fly-by." It seems that Maverick is destined to fly again with more news of a sequel to 1986's Top Gun.
Cruise is seeing his stock in Hollywood climb again lately, especially with his head-turning starring role in Rock of Ages. So Hollywood, it's take him to bed or lose him forever.
"I hope we can figure this out to go do it again," Cruise told MTV at the Rock of Ages premiere. "If we can find a story that we all want to do, we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot Top Gun."
Movieplot.com says the movie's original players -- director Tony Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer -- are already on board. And the website says Val Kilmer might even reprise his role as Iceman. (That's good, because the the plaque for the alternates is down in the ladies room.)
My prediction? I don't see all the parties agreeing on a story that works. And if they screw up a sequel just this much, they'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog sh-- out of Hong Kong!
