Top 80 villains of the '80s: Moody to Belloq

16

heathers1.jpgHonest to god, I really never got the appeal of the movie Heathers. A hateful bunch of girls in high school get knocked off one by one? Sure. Whatever. Am I supposed to be happy, horrified, bemused? All of the above? Maybe I grew up on the side the tracks where nobody would have dreamed of poisoning their friends with plumbing solution. I can honestly say I have more empathy toward French archaeologist Rene Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark than any cast member of Heathers. So there.

Today's big winner: Joan Collins as Alexis Colby in Dynasty. There aren't a ton of females on the villain list. Perhaps because when a woman acts like a villain, we have better names for that.

TOP 80 VILLAINS OF THE '80s (Nos. 31-40):

40. MOODY (Matt Dillon) in My Bodyguard (1980): "Hey, Shelly. Do you want to go to the movies? ... Have a good time while you're there."

39. JIMMY SERRANO (Dennis Farina) in Midnight Run (1988): "You and that other dummy better start getting more personally involved in your work, or I'm gonna stab you in the heart with a pencil."

38. JOHN RYDER (Rutger Hauer) in The Hitcher (1986): "You wanna know what happens to an eyeball when it gets punctured? Do you got any idea how much blood jets out of a guy's neck when his throat's been slit?"

37. ALEXIS COLBY (Joan Collins) in Dynasty (1981-89):
"I just can't wait for the day when I see you walking out of this house carrying the same two cheap plastic suitcases that you walked in here with."

36. AL CAPONE (Robert De Niro) in The Untouchables (1987):
"I want you to find this nancy-boy Eliot Ness, I want him DEAD! I want his family DEAD! I want his house burned to the GROUND!"

35. TONY MONTANA (Al Pacino) in Scarface (1983): "In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women."

34. FREDDY KRUEGER (Robert Englund) in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984): "I'm your boyfriend now, Nancy."

33. DAVID (Kiefer Sutherland) in The Lost Boys (1987): "Now you know what we are, now you know what you are. You'll never grow old, Michael, and you'll never die. But you must feed!"

32. THE HEATHERS (Shannen Doherty, Lisanne Falk, Kim Walker) in Heathers (1988):
"Transfer to Washington. Transfer to Jefferson. No one at Westerberg is going to let you play their reindeer games."

31. RENE BELLOQ (Paul Freeman) in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981):
"Dr. Jones. Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away."

Sneak peak at tomorrow's list: "From now on we are enemies, You and I."
