Top price on Duran Duran's first show in Clearwater in 10 years? $150 (and worth every penny)
Duran Duran has an Oct. 10 date with fans in Tampa Bay, as previously announced here on Stuck in the '80s. But now we have the scoop on ticket prices too.
Reserved tickets priced at $150, $79.50 and $49.50 will be available at the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office located at 1111 McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater or by calling 727-791-7400. They go on sale Friday, Aug. 12, at noon.
Now, $150 might seem steep for the best seats in the house, but remember this is the band's first stop at Ruth Eckerd since 2001. And it's a nice, intimate venue -- a rare treat for a band of Duran Duran's stature. Frankly, I'm surprised they're this affordable. I'd have probably paid up to $200 for the pleasure. (And even the worst seats in the house are better than you'd get as a VIP in a sports arena, so chill.)
Here are some other newsy nuggets from the band, courtesy of Ruth Eckerd:
- A new production set has been designed for this North American run.
- American alternative pop-rockers Neon Trees will open for Duran Duran for the Clearwater date and on other select dates.
- Back in the UK, Duran Duran confirmed that they had reunited supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon for their Girl Panic! video, which director Jonas Akerlund recently shot in London. Look for the video coming this fall.
As for ailing singer Simon Le Bon, drummer Roger Taylor reports he's sounding much better now and that the band is itching to return to the road.
"I’m sure he will be ready, and sounding better than ever, when we reconvene in August," Roger writes on the official Duran Duran site. "I am also sure that the band will be back with renewed energy and vigour, as sometimes we need to have things taken away from us to really appreciate what we have, how lucky we are to be creatively expressing ourselves every day and to be doing a ‘job’ that we really love."
