Tuesday's lost and found: 'Shiny Shiny' by Haysi Fantayzee
For Tuesday’s dose of '80s Lost and Found, we travel across the pond to England for Haysi Fantayzee’s Shiny, Shiny. Some of SIT80s nation who have read Rob Sheffield’s excellent book Talking to Girls About Duran Duran may recall Sheffield devoting an entire chapter of his book to explain his fascination with Haysi Fantayzee. Sharing vocals on Shiny Shiny is Jerimiah Healy, who made a name for himself in England as part of the cross-dressing, DJ Club crowd with Boy George and Peter Burns (Dead or Alive). It is debated that Boy George stole his fashion sense from Healy. Released in 1983, Shiny Shiny highlights include bold fashion statements, confounding lyrics and one heck of a fiddle solo.
