'Urgh! A Music War' coming to Beach Theatre

27

July

Urgh! A Music WarConcert movies are a mixed bag in general, but not this gem: Urgh! A Music War. The 1982 film is a bit of a cult classic, featuring live performances (from 1980) by a bunch of bands few people had then heard of: the Go-Go's, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, XTC, Devo, The Cramps, Oingo Boingo, Dead Kennedys, Gary Numan, Klaus Nomi, Wall of Voodoo, Pere Ubu, UB40, Echo & the Bunnymen and some trio that calls themselves The Police.

If you've never had a chance to see it, and you live in Tampa Bay, Saturday's your lucky day.

The Beach Theatre on St. Pete Beach is screening the movie July 31. Tickets are $8 and the film begins at 8:30, but show up early and see some rare and classic music videos of the punk and New Wave era on the big screen before the movie starts.

It's worth the price of admission to see Klaus Nomi sing Total Eclipse.
