US Festival marks 30th anniversary with new documentary film

us_festival.jpgThe 30th anniversary of the first US Festival will be marked by a feature-length documentary set for release on Labor Day weekend.

Apple co-founder and US Festival mastermind Steve Wozniak is teaming up his UNUSON Corp. with ICON Television Music and Plum Moving Media to make “The US Generation, Slicingupeyeballs.com reports.

"This film is the only authorized and sanctioned documentary of the 1982 US Festival," Carlos Harvey, CFO of UNUSON, said in a statement. "It captures the cultural essence of the festival and tells the behind-the-scenes stories the fans will appreciate. I've had thousands of calls and e-mails from attendees over the years about when we'll release a film about the US Festival. After 30 years it seems like the right time so the fans can relive the experience and we can create new fans, too."

The first two of festivals, the 1982 version of the US Festival featured performances by some of the more cutting-edge bands of the day, including Oingo Boingo, the B-52s, the Cars and Ramones. A second festival in 1983 featured more mainstream acts, including Van Halen and Scorpions.
