Van Halen and David Lee Roth are making music together again, and today we have the first song off the new album to dissect: Tattoo.

My first take on it: Their musicianship is top-notch, but the songwriting skills have a little rust to shake off. I'm also betting it sounds a lot better live than in studio.

The new album, A Different Kind of Truth, is set for release on Feb. 7. Van Halen is set to tour to promote the album that same month, with a stop set for April 12 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
