Vodka, rum and coconuts bad combo for Richards
It's been nearly a week since the world has been faced with its most intriguing riddle in decades: How and why did 62-year-old Keith Richards climb a palm tree in Fiji (then fall off, landing in a hospital with a concussion)?
(And for the record, that's not a doctored photo of Richards you're looking at.)
One New Zealand website finally seems to have the answer: Richards and fellow Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood consumed "bottles of vodka" during the day, switched to rum at night and decided to collect some coconuts from the nearby palm trees. Ah yes. Haven't we all been there before? (Usually, my biggest vodka-related injury is from cutting my hands while trying to remove the frozen pizza from the box late at night.)
Richards left an Auckland hospital Tuesday, but now reports say the guitarist will return to England to have a hole drilled in his skull to drain the excess blood (or perhaps excess vodka and rum). "It has given him a scare but he has been told that he should make a full recovery once its done," one source said.
