We don't have to miss him at all: John Waite's best song is ...
For some reason, John Waite has become a permanent earworm in the Stuck in the '80s universe. I've had two John Waite dreams in the last two nights. On Sunday, I dreamt that Waite was performing at Epcot's Food and Wine Festival (which would have been so much better than Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.) And then last night, I was tormented by this one:
Demi Moore, circa 1986's About Last Night (one of my absolute favorite '80s flicks), was living with me as a platonic roommate at The Lair. But she insisted on singing Missing You at the top of her lungs all the freakin' time. Not so bad on the surface because we all adore that tune. But in About Last Night, John Waite's tune was If Anybody Had a Heart, which is totally classic as well.
Sadly, John doesn't play that tune live anymore. If he did, my heart would never be broken.
So question of the day: What is John Waite's ultimate tune and why? And yes, you can include tunes he performed while in Bad English as well as the Babys. You already know my vote.
