What a wicked game! Chris Isaak could be next 'American Idol' judge

chris_isaak.jpgGoodbye, Bret Michaels. Hello, Chris Isaak. The '80s crooner replaces the '80s rocker as the favorite to replace Simon Cowell as a judge of Fox's American Idol.

The Hollywood Reporter says Fox has met twice with Isaak, who scored a top 10 hit in 1989 with Wicked Game. (The video for it? So ridiculously hot.) Besides having the obvious musical chops for the Idol gig, Isaak has had a handful of acting jobs over the years, including hosting The Chris Isaak Show on Showtime. (Great stuff. When will it reach DVD though?)

Bret Michaels reportedly is already yesterday's news, according to THR. The Poison frontman and solo rocker "was given the once-over" by Fox and is now out of the running, said the paper. He continues to lobby hard for the job whenever he's interviewed in the media.

Ready to hear about two more dark horses in the running? Sinatra-wannabe Harry Connick Jr. has been considered, and Donald Trump is quietly lobbying for the job. (Nevermind the Trumpster has a longtime deal with NBC.)
