When is our '80s high school podcast going online? "Gee Mr. Spicoli, I don't know!"

Sean Penn and Ray Walston in Fast Times at Ridgemont HighRumor has it that Sean "Jeff Spicoli" Penn irritated the hell out of Ray "Mr. Hand" Walston on the set of 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Walston, an old-school actor whose Hollywood career began 6 years before Penn was even born, wasn't happy with "Spicoli" (as Penn insisted people always call him on set) and his unexpected improvised behavior on camera.

But out of aggravation comes genius. Spicoli and Mr. Hand make up what is probably the greatest on-screen duo in high school movie history. (Who else would you give it to: Nick Nolte and Ralph Macchio for Teachers?) And it's in the spirit of aggravation-meets-genius that we present this week's Stuck in the '80s podcast: High schools of the '80s. (Am I overselling it?)

Sean Daly, Cathy Wos and myself weave a web of anger and betrayal that ultimately blossoms into old-school podcast fun. Marvel with wonder as Sean somehow manages to spend 10 minutes talking about Witness, a movie that has nothing to do with high school. And cringe in horror as Cathy digs her razor-sharp talons into my spine all because of a mistimed joke at her expense.

It's just like high school all over again, only without milk boxes.
