The Who reveals their Super Bowl set list (Sorry, no '80s tunes)
The Who has announced which songs they'll perform during Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show in Miami. Sadly, there are no '80s tunes on the list. (Though honestly I didn't really expect Athena, but You Better You Bet would have been nice.)
"We're kinda doing a mashup of stuff," guitarist Pete Townshend tells Billboard.com. "A bit of Baba O'Riley, a bit of Pinball Wizard, a bit of the close of Tommy, a bit of Who Are You, and a bit of Won't Get Fooled Again. It works -- it's quite a saga."
The Who's Super Bowl set list was developed by lead singer Roger Daltrey, along with help from Townshend's brother Simon, halftime show executive producer Ricky Kirschner and halftime show director Hamish Hamilton, says MTV.com.
Truth be told, I'm a little disappointed to know the set list ahead of time. ("Will Prince do Purple Rain in the rain? Yes!) Half the fun of a Super Bowl halftime show is trying to guess what songs make the cut. And while I love each of those tunes, I hope Pete and Roger have a few surprises up their sleeves.
