You make the call: Dennis, Journey or Huey
Fans of the 80s are going to be hard-pressed in the next 5 days to afford all the great acts coming to town here in central Florida.
- Journey kicks off a Florida and European tour here in Clearwater, Fla., tonight at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
- Dennis DeYoung plays the music of Styx in a concert at Orlando's SeaWorld on Saturday.
- Huey Lewis and the News play Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall on Valentine's Day.
If you could only afford to see one show, which would it be? Here are the statistics...
VENUES: Both spots are comfortable in size, meaning there's no bad seat in the house. Ruth Eckerd Hall is indoors. But the weather here in Florida right now is 65 degrees and sunny.
Pros: Classic catalog of tunes that spans three decades and great musicianship.
Cons: They're on their third lead singer since their glory years, though fans don't seem to mind. They sell out where ever they play.
Pros: The real showman and the talent behind Styx and the band's most memorable hits.
Cons: Wish the rest of the band could be there too.
HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS:
Pros: Rock n' Roll's king of fun and pop culture icon. Is there anyone else you'd rather have a beer with and talk about the good ole days? Great tunes too.
Cons: Ummm ... oh yeah -- he shot down Marty McFly's band (The Pinheads) during their audition to play the school dance in Back to the Future.
So there you go: Which one concert do you choose to see?
