Covers Week continues with dB's 'Big Brown Eyes'

When I say "big brown eyes" you might think of Susannah Hoffs darting those famous peepers back and forth in the Bangles videos, but when she thinks of that phrase, more than likely, she is probably thinking of the dB's and Big Brown Eyes.

Day Three of "Under the Covers" Week finds us tuning into the dB's and a featured track off their 1981 debut album Stands For Decibels - which deciphers the origin of the band's name. The dB's were a critically acclaimed band from North Carolina with talented songwriters Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey. Big Brown Eyes is short and sticky sweet clocking in at barely two minutes. The animated is the creation of Emily Hubley, who would go to have her animation featured on the award-winning 2001 movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch (which is currently a Broadway play featuring Neil Patrick Harris).

After the glorious Sound of Music album in 1987, the dB's broke up with Holsapple and Stamey starting their solo recording careers. In 2012, the band got together briefly to release new material for the excellent album Falling Off the Sky. http://www.thedbs.com/
