Dan Haggerty, star of Grizzly Adams, dies of cancer
We just lost another celebrity to cancer this week: Dan Haggerty, who played Grizzly Adams in the big screen and on TV, died Friday morning, TMZ reports.
The website says the 74-year-old actor was indeed battling cancer the last few months.
Haggerty began his career on TV in 1953 in the series The Files of Jeffrey Jones. His career took off with the 1974 movie The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, in which he played the lead character James Capen Adams. The movie became a TV series in 1977, and a series of made-for-TV movies based on Grizzly Adams following into the ‘80s.
Like most stars of his day, Haggerty also had the requisite appearances on shows such as Love Boat, CHiPs and Charlie’s Angels. He continued to act right up until his death, with three appearances in movies currently in post-production.
