Dennis DeYoung bringing symphony show to Ruth Eckerd Hall

Few performers from our time still dazzle as much today as Dennis DeYoung. The founding member of Styx and its longtime singer these days performs without his former bandmates. But when you’re lucky, you can catch him performing with a symphony orchestra. It’s just mind boggling how songs like Lady, Mr. Roboto and Come Sail Away sound with that added level of musicianship.

And fans in Tampa Bay will get another shot at Dennis with an symphony when he performs Friday, Feb. 24, at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at noon. (Click here for other DDY tour dates.)

If you’re a Styx fan, seeing Dennis in concert is as close as you’re going to get to the real thing. Sure, Tommy Shaw and James  "J.Y." Young still tour “as Styx” but Dennis DeYoung is Styx. Accept no substitutes.

Here’s an interview I did with Dennis before one of his previous shows at the Clearwater venue. Or, if you’re so inclined, listen to the podcast version, which is far more entertaining.

Tickets for the show are $89, $69 and $49 and are available at the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office, by calling 727.791.7400 or visiting
