'Designing Women' and 'Mannequin' co-star Meshach Taylor dies
Meshach Taylor, best known to '80s fans for his role of "Anthony Bouvier" on TV's Designing Women, has died at the age of 67, according to CNN.com.
"It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic, Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend has begun his grand transition," the family said in a statement.
The cause of death is believed to be cancer. He died Saturday at his home near Los Angeles.
Mr. Taylor also played "Hollywood Montrose," the flamboyant window designer in the 1987 movie Mannequin opposite Andrew McCarthy. But it is probably his role as the reluctant male foil on Designing Women for which he's best remembered. The TV series lasted from 1986 to 1993.
Mr. Taylor also made appearances on TV's MASH, Golden Girls, Lou Grant, Buffalo Bill and ALF. His latest work was on the series Criminal Minds.
