‘Dynasty’ remake coming to The CW
We’re running out of ways to catalog the catastrophic shortage of creativity in Hollywood these days, so let’s just get to the news: The CW is working on a reboot of the ‘80s TV drama Dynasty. (Cue the iconic theme music.)
TVguide.com reports that the series is being developed by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl), but they’re also partnering with the original Dynasty creators (Richard and Esther Shapiro). So maybe it’s NOT a complete certainty that this will be a giant disaster?
The original series ran on ABC from 1981 to 1989 and followed the wealthy Carrington family in Colorado. Among its stars: John Forsythe, Linda Evans, Joan Collins, Heather Locklear, Pamela Sue Martin and Ted McGinley. At the height of its popularity in the mid-‘80s, it spawned the spinoff series The Colbys.
According to TV Guide, the Dynasty reboot would set the story in modern times and be told from the perspective of Fallon Carrington (the daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington). No word on casting or production dates yet.
