Favorite 'shoes' of the '80s? Not a sneaker but a power pop band from Illinois
I so miss the days when power pop was abundant in the late '80s and early '90s and no band was as sugary sweet as Shoes and their cheeky video for Feel The Way That I Do.
Some sources list the Shoes album Stolen Wishes as either 1989 or 1990, but most agree it was 1989 and that sneaks the video for Feel The Way That I Do just under the '80s wire. The video for Feel The Way That I Do is sexy fun as it's intended to be a parody of supermodel videos but with a cute dog, some superhot ladies and the handsome men of Shoes, however the video is pleasing even without the satire. Back in 2010, Lady Gaga made a stir when she wore a "meat dress" at MTV Video Music Awards, but let it be documented that the 'meat dress" first existed in the video for Feel The Way That I Do as around the 1:10 mark we see a meat bra and hot dog skirt, but alas, no little smokies accessories.
And just when Shoes thought it didn't get any better, they must have been delighted when the producers of the movie Mannequin 2: On The Move called and got permission to use Feel The Way That I Do in their movie that boasts a whooping 3.9 rating on IMDB.
Shoes started in Illinois and this is their second appearance on Lost and Found. If you enjoy power pop, you will like anything Shoes submitted from the late '70s to their last album in 2012 entitled Ignition.
