Hungry like the wolf? Sure, but Duran Duran isn't hungry enough for Yoplait
Have you see the Yoplait commercial using Duran Duran's Hungry Like the Wolf? If you missed it, it's because the band has asked the yogurt-maker to pull the ad because they didn't approve its usage.
In a statement over the weekend, Duran Duran said the group "does not support this usage of their music." License to use the 1982 was indeed granted, but without the band's knowledge, reports Slicingupeyeballs.com.
It's not like Duran Duran doesn't like yogurt, rather it's a 30-year-old murder case that's at the core of their objection, the website reports.
"On the yogurt maker’s Facebook page, a number of people posted complaints in recent days about the use of Hungry Like the Wolf because of its connection to the Diane Downs murder case 30 years ago," the report says. "In May 1983, Downs shot her three children in the back of her car in Springfield, Ore., killing one of them. Hungry Like the Wolf was playing on the car’s radio at the time."
