In a pre-Internet world, Dave Edmunds knew how to use 'Information'

Dave Edmunds has a had a long storied career in rock n roll spanning from 1970’s Top 5 hit I Hear You Knocking to producing breakout acts like The Stray Cats. After the demise of his band Rockpile, Edmunds hit the Top 40 with Slipping Away in 1983. His follow up single was Information that only reached No. 106 on the singles chart.

Information features Edmund’s signature twangy guitar and the recognizable Jeff Lynne ELO-produced sound. The video has fun with all the various forms of informatation including letting your fingers do the walking in the Yellow Pages, smoke signal and fortune cookie. In 1983, who would have forseen the information explosion with faxes, cell phones, e-mail and yes, blogs.

In 1979, Edmunds also had a UK hit with Queen of Hearts, a song that later become Juice Newton’s No. 2 US smash in 1981. Appearances of Edmuds have become more infrequent over the years as he turned 69 this year.
