Kim Wilde opened for Michael Jackson? Oh, and she played this forgotten hit

When Kim Wilde first released the new wave classic Kids In America in the U.S., she came, she saw and well you know what else, but by the end of the decade, she came and just fell short.

In the '80s, no female solo singer had more U.K. Top 40 hits than Kim Wilde. While she had sixteen hits in the U.K. during the '80s, she only hit the U.S. Top 40 twice with Kids In America and the No. 1 remake of You Keep Me Hangin' On. In 1988, You Came was a No. 2 smash in the U.K., but fell just shy at No. 41 in the U.S. The perky video for You Came is taken from the front and back stages of Wilde's run as the opening act for Michael Jackson's Bad Tour.

The daughter of Marty Wilde, who was a '60s rock star in England and had a few minor hits in America, Kim Wilde still performs when she isn't landscaping, gardening or raising her two teenagers. In 2013 she released a Christmas album entitled Wilde Winter Songbook
