Lost and found: The Smithereens 'House That We Used To Live In'

While The Smithereens cracked the Top 40 a few times in the ‘90s with hits like A Girl Like You, the ‘80s was packed full of top notch power pop from Pat DiNizio and the rest of the gang from New Jersey.

In 1988 The Smithereens second single off their Green Thoughts album was House That We Used To Live that garnered some rock airplay but little chart success. Who knows why The Smithereens didn’t hit it bigger? Perhaps it was DiNizio’s Gilligan looks or the shifting musical tastes away from power pop to hip hop and grunge.

The Smithereens continue to release music including new material in 2011 and a Beatles tribute album in 2007.
