Lost Boys sequel coming, but in comic book form

One thing about being stuck in the '80s I never could stomach; all the damn movie sequels. It’s okay, Grandpa, because the sequel to 1987’s The Lost Boys will be a comic books series. reports that Issue No. 1 of the new Lost Boys comic series by Vertigo Comics will be available on Oct. 12. The monthly books will pick up with where the movie left off and include the same characters.

The storyline begins with brothers Michael and Sam joining forces again with the Frog brothers to battle a new gang of vampires known as the Blood Belles.

The series will reportedly maintain the equal parts horror and comedy that make the original movie so memorable. Added bonus: Though actor Corey Haim died in 2010, his character lives on in the comic book.

The original 1987 movie, starring Haim, Corey Feldman, Keifer Sutherland and Jason Patric, still holds a respectable 72 percent "fresh rating" on Rotten Tomatoes. Critic Roger Ebert was less praising, giving the movie 2 1/2 stars and calling Lost Boys "ambitious entertainment that starts out well but ends up selling its soul." The movie spawned several forgettable cinematic sequels that were largely ignored.
