Monday lost and found: Planet P Project's 'Why Me?'

Here on Earth, Tony Carey spent the ‘80s singing songs about everyday life like Uncle Sonny in A Fine, Fine Day, but the galaxies were the domain for the Planet P Project and lost songs like Why Me?

Planet P Project was Carey's side project that focused on writing songs based on science-fiction themes. Teamed up with German producer Peter Hauke, Plant P Project released two albums in the ‘80s with Why Me?" reaching No. 64 on the singles chart in 1983.

1983 was the year of the "astronaut lost in space" as Peter Schilling's Major Tom was a big hit, although Why Me? predated Major Tom by about six months.  The Planet P Project band name comes from the 1959 book Starship Troopers, which was adapted and magnificently made into a cheesy sci-fi movie in 1997. The only actors in Why Me? are the mysterious beehive girl and a floating astronaut but Carey does not appear in the video.

For a side project, Planet P has been busy as they released their sixth album entitled Steeltown in 2013.   http://www.tonycarey.com/e/index.php
