Most unfortunate band name of the '80s? Could be Roachford

Is a stuffed animal on your Christmas list? Probably not, but today we do have a Cuddly Toy just for you.

In 1988, the band Roachford led by its namesake leader, Andrew Roachford, hit the U.K. charts with the up tempo jam Cuddly Toy. In 1989, Cuddly Toy caught on in America and made it all the way to No. 25 on the pop charts. The video for Cuddly Toy is mostly performance by Roachford trying to infuse some funk in the growing homogenized pop music scene of the late '80s.

While Roachford never hit the charts in America again, they had success in their home country of England and scored eight Top 40 U.K. hits before their string of singles ended in the '90s. In 2010, Andrew Roachford would go on to join Mike + the Mechanics sharing lead vocals and playing keyboards and continues to tour with them today.
