Never Found in the 80s: The Barracudas

I hadn’t planned on getting to this band yet, but since we in the upper Midwest seem to be in the throes of the winter that will never end, I thought a little summer fun would be in order.

The Barracudas were formed in the late 1970s when musicians Jeremy Gluck and Robin Wills discovered they both loved '60s garage and psychedelic music. So, they put this band together and released the surf rock revival album, Drop Out With The Barracudas in 1981. Although never finding much of an American audience, the album does feature this UK hit song (No. 37 on their charts) Summer Fun.

Believe me, you’re going to be asking, “This song is from the '80s?”

The Barracudas didn’t last long, but they have reformed a number of times over the years to record new material. In 2005, they got the band back together to record and release a self-titled album.
