Never Found in the '80s: The Screaming Tribesmen
In honor of October, I will profile several artists that were either part of the Gothic Rock sound or have some Halloween or horror themed song. I plan on doing more than what should be my usual one a week pace (which I don't seem to be able to do anyway), so let's see if I can do it.
First up is Australia's The Screaming Tribesmen. They formed in Brisbane in 1981 and released more EPs than full length albums in that greatest of all decades. One such EP was Date With A Vampyre, which is the song I chose to kick off this greatest of all months. Although the band isn't really Goth, the song fits the theme and it's a rockin' little number with an excellent piano open that recalls the silent film era.
The Screaming Tribesmen did score a Top 10 single (I Got A Feeling - 1988) on the American Modern Rock charts, but they were still never found by the mainstream market. The band broke up in 1993, but reformed in 2011. Their most recent activity that I could find was an announcement of playing Spain's Azkena Rock Festival and touring France in the summer of 2012.
