Oh, it's Three Lock Box ... Always thought Sammy Hagar was singing 'Free Lunch Box'

"Suckers walk. Money talks, but it can’t touch my Three Lock Box." Ah, the cryptic lyrics of Sammy Hagar’s title track off his Three Lock Box album that leads into the signature guitar riffs of The Red Rocker.

Whether it’s spiritual, mystical or just a good Sesame Street lesson, Three Lock Box is one of the few videos that Hagar filmed during his ‘80s solo career. Three Lock Box wasn’t even a single as Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy was the only cut to hit the singles chart off the 1982 album.

After a string of three knockout solo albums in the ‘80s with Standing Hampton, Three Lock Box and VOA, Hagar put it all to the side in 1986 to join Van Halen. Hagar has been just as successful in his business ventures ranging from tequila, restaurants, clothing, etc. but still keeps busy with music.

In 1984, Hagar formed the supergroup HSAS with Neal Schon, Kenny Aaronsen and Michael Shrieve to record an album that didn’t exactly set the world on fire. This year HSAS is reformed but Aaronsen and Shrieve have been replaced by comrades Micheal Anthony (also of Van Halen) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and other guests. Sammy should really call the album the new HSAS record since the acronyms fit perfect, however, Sammy is “Chickenfooting” out by calling it Sammy Hagar and Friends. The album is slated to be released today and the first video has already been released for “Knockdown Dragout” that features Kid Rock and Joe Satriani.
