Oscar winning screenwriter of 'A Room With A View' dies at 85

Sad news from the Associated Press: Oscar-winning screenwriter and award-winning novelist Ruth Prawer Jhabvala has died at age 85 after a long illness. Jhabvala wrote 22 films over four decades, winning two Academy Awards: one for 1985's A Room With A View and 1992's Howard's End.

Jhabvala, who also write the acclaimed fiction novel Heat and Dust in 1975, continued to write to the end; her latest work appeared in New Yorker magazine last month.

In a 1979 lecture, the writer said: "I stand before you as a writer without any ground of being out of which to write: really blown about from country to country, culture to culture, till I feel — till I am — nothing."
