Pat Benatar's forgotten classic from 'Crimes of Passion'

Pat Benatar was the female face of rock n’ roll in the ‘80s with hit after hit. On her second album, Crimes of Passion, the hits intersected with the launch of MTV and songs like Hit Me With Your Best Shot, You Better Run and Treat Me Right became classics.

Video’s love affair with Benatar continued with the 1980 album cut I’m Gonna Follow You that helped her win her first Grammy.

I’m Gonna Follow You is written by ace song write Billy Steinberg who penned No. 1 songs five years in row in the ‘80s. His murderer’s row included: Madonna’s Like a Virgin ('85), Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors ('86), Heart’s Alone ('87), Whitney Houston’s So Emotional ('88) and Bangles’ Eternal Flame ('89).

Steinberg originally recorded I’m Gonna Follow You in 1979 with his short-lived band called Billy Thermal. The band included Bob Carlisle (Butterfly Kisses) on bass and Craig Hull on guitar (guitarist on Kim Carnes’ Bette Davis Eyes).

Benatar and hubby, Neil Geraldo, continue to perform everywhere.
