Principal's Office? I think you know where the front office is, Young MC

One of the most beloved songs of old school rap is Young MC's Bust A Move that took the charts by storm in 1989 and is still played today including teaching us a valuable lesson about driving and rapping at the same time in the hit movie The Blind Side. However, Young MC wasn't a one-hit wonder if you remember going down to the Principal's Office.

1989 was the year of Young MC as songs he co-wrote for Tone Loc, Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina, torched the charts and set the stage for his own release of Bust A Move. Principal's Office was the follow up single and wrapped up the year by making it as far as No. 33 on the charts.

The song and video followed the same construct of the other single successes with a thumping bass line, funny rhymes and lots of young ladies bumping and grinding. After Principal's Office, Young MC would never hit the Top 40 again as old school rap was taken over by gangster rap and its other mutations and died a quick death. In the 2009 George Clooney movie Up In The Air, Young MC was able to poke fun at his fleeting fame as he played himself being relegated to performing his hits for stiff suits at a corporate function.
