Star Wars VIII will be titled 'The Last Jedi'
Hey, Star Wars fans (and really, shouldn't that be all of us?) Lucasfilm reportedly has released the full name of the next Star Wars movie: Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi.
Nerdvanamedia.com reported the news Monday. The movie is slated for a Dec. 15 release. Fans are still waiting on the first trailer. Rian Johnson wrote and directed the movie with J.J. Abrams serving as executive producer. It's assumed the storyline with pick up with the return of Luke Skywalker.
In other Star Wars news, Lucasfilm announced last week that the late Carrie Fisher will not be re-created digitally in future movies.
"We don’t normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address. We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa. Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars."
