The Revolution’s Dr. Fink bringing Prince tribute show to Tampa Theatre
Hey, Purple Rain fans, everyone remember Dr. Fink? Fink (aka Matt Fink) was the physician scrubs-wearing keyboard player for Prince & The Revolution from 1978 to 1991. He might not have talked much in the 1984 movie, but he did have that one great zinger about why Wendy is only nice one week a month.
Anyway, these days Fink is fronting the Purple Xperience, a Prince tribute band, and they have a gig set for Sept. 22 at the Tampa Theatre. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, July 19. Tickets are $38 and $32 plus fees.
The five-piece Purple Xperience is a five-piece act featuring some of the best session players from the Minneapolis area, where Prince lived and made it big. Fronting the band is Marshall Charloff, who reportedly is a dead-ringer for Prince both appearance-wise and vocally. (Check out the promo video below.)
Fink, as you remember, won Grammys along with the rest of the Revolution for his work on the soundtracks for Purple Rain and Under the Cherry Moon.
