This song proves Cleveland was a star in the '80s too ... at least musically

It’s the start of football season and perennial losers Cleveland Browns hope to change their fortunes this year. The city that hosts the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, was the setting for the Joan Jett/Michael J Fox movie Light of Day and has the motto Cleveland Rocks also has a proud history of rock bands that show the grit of Cleveland.

One of Cleveland’s proudest sons is the Michael Stanley Band and their love letter to Cleveland called My Town reached No. 39 on the charts in 1983.

The band affectionately known as MSB charted many minor singles but only My Town and He Can’t Love You hit the Top 40.

While MSB is no longer together, Stanley stills performs and releases new material and is the drive-home DJ for Cleveland classic rock station WNCX.
