There has been this movie series that you may have heard about called Star Wars that has been in the news a lot lately. All the fuss has talk there might even be a Space Balls 2 sometime down the road. What does this have to do with '80s music videos? Everything, since today we have one greeting for you and that is "May the Schwartz be with you" - that is - Eddie Schwartz.
Eddie Schwartz is not a household name in America and trails Schwartz from A Christmas Story and Mel Brooks famous Spaceballs punch line as a distant third of the most recognizable Schwartzs in the '80s, but Eddie Schwartz's resume is loaded. Schwartz is a great Canadian musician who had one Top 40 hit in the U.S. with All Our Tomorrows in 1981. He also wrote one of the most iconic songs of the '80s with Hit Me With Your Best Shot for Pat Benatar.
Our treat for today is the video for his song Special Girl that was released as a single in 1984. The song is a underrated pop gem and the video features Schwartz wooing his special girl inspired in paintings. When Special Girl failed to chart, Schwartz concentrated his efforts on producing and song writing. Some of his other '80s hits that he penned include Paul Carrack's Don't Shed A Tear and the Doobie Brothers The Doctor.
