'Urgh! A Music War' Week: Au Pairs

For day three of my look at Never Found artists from the concert film Urgh! A Music War, I am featuring Au Pairs. Au Pairs is a British post-punk band whose music focused on the male/female dynamic of politics, sex, and life. They took a frank look at how men and women interact.

Today’s song is an example of that frankness. It’s called Come Again and you should be warned that the sexual nature of the lyrics might make this NSFW. It’s not lurid, it’s honest. And the song is from one of my all time favorite albums, Playing With A Different Sex, which was released in 1981.

In their short existence (1979 – 1983), Au Pairs produced two studio albums and one live album. I saw lead singer Lesley Wood in concert in the late '80s. She opened for The Three Johns (a future Never Found artist) with only a boom box to provide a backing track. It was…interesting.

Oh! At the very end of the clip, the provocative artist you will catch a glimpse of is The Cramps. I will be profiling them, as well, in the near future.
