Watch Danny Elfman play 'Dead Man's Party' for first time since 1995
Danny Elfman surprised and delighted fans at the Hollywood Bowl on Halloween Night when he played a stripped down version of Oingo Boingo's Dead Man's Party for the first time in 20 years.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I’m gonna do something I said I’d never do," he told the crowd, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Now, if I don’t do it very well, forgive me. It's been exactly 20 years to the day. Halloween, October 31, 1995 when I played this song last."
Oingo Boingo played its final show that night before retiring (in large part due to the hearing damage Elfman suffered after the years of live performances). Elman's appearance Saturday night was part of a performance of The Nightmare Before Christmas. For Dead Man's Party, he was joined onstage by former bandmate and guitarist Steve Bartek.
