What's this Bryan Ferry song really about? We don't kiss and tell
Yesterday we learned about Profumo Affair and the scandal that surrounded it. Today we highlight Bryan Ferry's tribute to that scandal and others with Kiss and Tell.
The admiration for Bryan Ferry on the Stuck in the '80s blog is second to none as his work with Roxy Music has been the inspiration for numerous artists and music lovers. Ferry also had a successful solo career and his biggest hit in the U.S. was Kiss and Tell that reached No. 31 in 1988.
The video for Kiss and Tell features the actual Christine Keeler who knows a little thing about kissing and telling as 15 years earlier her exposed affair with government officials rocked the English political landscape. Besides Keeler, who was 46 years old when the Kiss and Tell video was filmed, the video also features two notable actress/models Mandy Smith and Denice Lewis. Lewis, the first-shown glamorous (near) blonde would go on land the role Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife in the 1999 movie End of Days. Logging in more screen time was then 18-year-old model Mandy Smith. Smith might be more famous for her relationship with Rolling Stone bassist Bill Wyman that started in 1983 when Mandy was 13 years old and Wyman was 47. Wyman and Smith were married from 1989 to 1991.
There is also the theory that Kiss and Tell was inspired by Jerry Hall's tell-all memoir Tall Tales that detailed how Hall left Ferry for Rolling Stone's Mick Jagger in the '80s. Jagger and Hall had four kids together, but parted ways many years ago. Following the money, Hall is now engaged to billionaire Rupert Murdoch. Kiss and Tell was also featured in the Michael J Fox movie Bright Lights, Big City.
Ferry tours constantly and his most recent album, Avonmore, was released in 2014.
