You'd think the country was big enough for more Big Country hits

You have to include In A Big Country by Big Country as one of the iconic songs of the '80s, but when was the last time you heard another Big County song? Don't look away because today's video is your chance to remember one of Big Country's other songs - Look Away.

Hailing from Scotland, the bagpipe guitar sound of Big Country was a breath of fresh air in 1983 as In A Big Country was a Top 20 hit and the band lost to Culture Club for Best New Artist at the Grammies. Despite the fuss, lasting chart success in the U.S. eluded Big Country including the 1986 single Look Away.

Look Away was a huge hit in Ireland and their highest-charting single ever in the U.K., but in the U.S. it was only a Mainstream Rock Chart hit and missed the pop singles chart. The video for Look Away is a black and white saga set in Olde English times with a beautiful damsel caught in a love triangle.

Big Country kept releasing their brand of rock throughout the '90s before lead singer/guitarist Stuart Adamson disappeared. In 2001 after a 10-year period of sobriety, Adamson resumed drinking and committed suicide during a binge in a Honolulu motel room. His funeral eulogy was given by The Edge of U2. In 2010, the surviving members of Big Country reunited and they continue to perform.
