Times Photographer favorites: Dirk Shadd shares his top 4 photos from 2015
I always find it interesting to see how the same play looks from a different angle.
Here are two of my favorite action shots from two different angles during the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Stanley Cup playoff run last spring.
In game three of the Eastern Conference Finals, Lightning center Alex Killorn yells defiantly as he celebrates his goal beating New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist. On left it is shown from a remote camera mounted in the cat walk of the arena and fired simultaneously as I fire the hand held camera from my shooting positing at ice level, which is the picture seen on right.
During game one of the opening round of the playoffs, Lightning center Brian Boyle beats Detroit Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek shorthanded to tie the game 1 to 1. On left it is the image from a remote camera mounted in the cat walk of the arena and fired with a foot pedal. Firing simultaneously is the picture on right which was taken from a remote net camera mounted in the back of the goal.
