UPDATE: Democrats' attorney Bob Altman said he wants to meet with write-in candidate John M. Taylor's lawyer Tuesday or Wednesday, asking in writing today without a response yet. Altman said he doesn't want to push a suit if the residency is justified, but called Taylor's affidavit of residency "weak" and would like more proof than a power bill mailed in Taylor's name. Taylor presented those documents last week.

Pasco Democrats who sued to oust write-in candidate John M. Taylor from the ballot could decide this week whether to junk their lawsuit. They wanted Taylor removed because Taylor has a homestead exemption and occupational license listing an address outside the County Commission district he's running in. But Taylor signed an affidavit and produced an electrical bill for a home in the district.

If Taylor stays in, the Aug. 26 primary will be open only to Republican voters by state law -- meaning 170,000 other voters will have virtually no say. Democrats failed to field a candidate.
