King mum on campaign after announcing end
U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite's opponent in the GOP congressional primary said last week he would end his campaign today. (This after the Times exposed his nebulous past.) But still no word from King, who last week he would formally announce his withdrawal today.
In response to the Times story last week, he provided two documents to support claims about his professional background, though neither could substantiate any degrees or medical certification even though he once claimed to be a doctor and a professor. (The Times asked for documents prior to the publication of the story and he refused to participate.)
One was a pay stub showing he served as an instructor at Northern Virginia Community College in 1999, though it didn't list what he taught. The other was a page from an Institutes of Health course catalog showing his name as the instructor for two Spanish classes aimed at medical personnel in Naples.
King has refused to return phone calls and e-mails from the Times after publication of the story. So he was unavailable to respond to new information coming to light, including a Ch. 7 bankruptcy filing, a divorce and a stalking arrest all in Collier County.
