Schrader: Headlines build tennis complex deal

County Commission Chairman Ted Schrader, who lit into the prospects of a lagging tennis stadium, revisited the issue today with the Bay Buzz -- a day after Pasco County's tourism board green-lighted a deal for the $7.9-million complex. The commission has to give the final approval

While other county officials say they were optimistic, Schrader said the Times' publishing of his criticism prompted a deal after years of logjams.

"I’m jut happy it appears they finally worked out there differences. Quite honestly, I think those differences were there, and I’m not sure they would have been worked out had that story not come out," said Schrader, who still wants to review the proposed deal before he decides how to vote on it.

Schrader is in a barb-filled primary race against John Nicolette on Aug. 26.
